Church Flower Competition

Hi everyone, this is Little Flo again and I’m very happy to announce that a team from Margriet consists of my mom and auntie Jenny recently won the 2nd winner at a flower competition which took place at Multifunction Building of St. Gabriel, Jl. Sumber Mekar I-7/14 on Dec 7,2012. Eventhough it’s just a church competition the preparation has begun with mom searching for reference since a week before.

At 9.00 AM we have already arrived at the hall, do the registration, put the leaves on our table and leave again until 10 AM to start the competition. Turned out the flowers only consist of 5 stems of white gladiolus, 5 red gerberas, 5 white chrysanthemum and a bit of yellow spray daisies, so mom and aunt Jenny had to redesigned a bit….

10 AM sharp, mom and aunt Jenny started to pull all the flowers together, only 45 minutes to finish the arrangement, so no time to waste…sorry for the blurry pics since at first I want to take close up step by step picture of the process but alas, the committee banned supporters from the competition room L (FYI, rules are meant to be broken since I still saw some supporters sneaking in to take some pictures)

In the last 10 minutes mom n aunt Jenny busily put the finishing touch n cleaning up the table, since cleanliness is one of the points and voila!!!!! This is it….
Since not many flowers were provided by the committee they chose a simple model like T model and use many leaves to cover the flowers shortage.

And this is the front side of the flower arrangement

Quite a lot of tough competitors too, since many of them produced nice flower arrangements. Here are the rest of them.

After that, it’s waiting time. The competition itself took 45 minutes, however the judging process required 90 minutes waiting but finally the best 6 were announced and we’re one of them!!! Gyaaa…so happy J

And at the announcing time, the winners are... no.7 from ‘Martinus’ as the first winner, then the second winner is no.18 from ‘St. Peter Cathedral’, the third is no.11 from ‘Cimahi’.

So happy for my mom and auntie Jenny… now let’s find another challenge, mom!!!

Cheers,
Little Flo
