Wedding Church Décor: Blue Theme

Blue hydrangea…. hhmmmm…. just love them!! I know they’re common flowers but I still think they’re beautiful. So back to the topic, what do you think about today’s wedding décor theme? You got it!! blue!!! ahahaha…

You see, blue theme is a bit complicated. If used too much (on the flowers) it will feel like dark and  gloomy, a bit exotic but dark and gloomy nonetheless. If you still unclear, just look at my post of Easter Bunny Flower Arrangement, where the decorator was using quite a lot of dark blue colored flowers.

It depends on your taste, but for wedding I personally still prefer the soft blue color and not too much of it. One example can be seen from picture above, the flower arrangement in front of the main altar boast the white and yellow colored roses but at the top, quite a lot of blue hydrangeas were put close together that made them stand out but not overwhelming.

The one in front of the psalmist altar boast a few pink flowers also, while the blue hydrangeas a little bit hidden at the back.

Flower Today: Carnation

If you like ruffled model, you'll like this flower either. Carnation has lots ruffle on the edge of its petals. It is becoming favourite flowers because of not only its beauty but also its long-lasting freshness besides for the good price of course. As you know, carnation is not as expensive as roses and it has wide range of color such as white, red, pink, yellow, green and lots of bi-color. No wonder if we often see carnation used in wedding bouquet, table centerpiece and other flower arrangements for many different occasion.

Wedding Bouquet Trend 3 : A Bit Contradictive!

Why contradictive? Because the hand-tied which only used calla lilies is so simple on its own but with lots of attention to the detail.

This hand-tied is actually a work of a floral designer from Singapore named Damien. Mrs. Ling Ling purposefully bought it for the need  as a comparison of the hand tied techniques.

For the brides who don't know yet how to hold this long type wedding bouquet, just look at the image above. So, the hand-tied is carried sideways, not upfront as usual.

As usual, the demo began with a ready-made hand-tied of yellow calla lilies which had already secured with gold ribbon and some orange colored flower pins attached on it.(imagine the buttons on your shirt!). The next steps are roughly the same as our previous post on 'wire on flowers'. First, you mold the wire into spiral look (look like mosquito repellent), after that arrange it on the ready-made hand-tied, then secured it with glue.  Finally, to make the wire look three dimensional, the spiral was pushed forward.

The overall and detail image of the hand-tied. If you would like to make it on your own, this is also the simplest form, so we encourage you to try it!!!

Here’s the real close-up before and after; before, the calla lilies were put together by using wire then covered with gold ribbon. The pins then were attached on it. If you’re Chinese, usually need 8 pins (lucky number). And the right image shows how it looks after the copper wire attached. Ooomph, it makes the regular hand-tied become premium.

This type of wedding bouquet trend is for you who likes details but doesn’t like to be showy. This hand-tied might look very simple from afar, but while you’re holding it and greet your guest, then they will see all the ribbons, pins and wire details. Surely you'll feel proud of it!!

Next stop: Wedding Hand-tied Bouquet Ideas number 4.  So, don't miss it!!

Wedding Bouquet Trend 2 : Shiny Wire Accent

Liar…. Liar…. pants on fire…
Wire…wire…let’s put you on flowers….

Okay, I’m  obviously not good in rhimes, but we really put some wire on the flowers. The shiny gold ones... the twisted ones that looked like an art! Just added some wire on, it can really make your wedding hand bouquet looks glamorous and trendy… and we’ll show you how!!!!

It’s not really that hard, actually. First, make a cascading style wedding bouquet. For this theme, use flower that’s not the same color tone with the wire, to make the wire stand out. The one used here is an alumunium wire for flower decorating which comes in various colors and sizes, we used 1.5mm thickness for this theme.

Next, just twist and mold the wire into different shape accent. Like the image above, the wire were made into different sizes of loops, then secure the wire so that the shape won’t change, then make another loops in other places and so on till the desired length. If any of you wonder how to secure the shape, sadly we can not reveal it, that is a SECRET…  muahahaha… seriously , we’re not lying, there're many courses out there that just teach the techniques to secure the wire you know. We just don't want the other people's  business closed because of revealing here, so sorry.

Next, arrange the wire on top of the flower bouquet and secure with flower pins or for simplicity just glued. That's it, easy right?

Finished!! Since this was done in haste the loops were not very neat, but if you order one from your florist it will done more neatly than this.

Here’s a different view on the wedding flower bouquet and the details of the wire. It might not glamorous in the photo but in reality, the gold really shines.

More wedding hand bouquet trend ideas coming up!!! Keep updating!!!!!

Wedding Hand Bouquet Trend 1 : Exotic Orchid

See? We always keep our promise. From now, we will give you 6 wedding bouquet trend ideas. This is the first one and also our favorite… Ha?! The first idea and the favourite already? Don’t worry, we have another favourite…. but when we see this wedding bouquet there’s no other option than to LOOOVE IT!!!! Lovely… lovely… lovely….

Before you continue reading, we must warn you that this bouquet falls into the expensive category, we’ll explain why later, but if your wedding bouquet is on the budget, SKIP READING.

Mrs. Ling Ling had made this bouquet when she was attending a workshop from a floral designer from Singapore named Damien which was a day before she did the demo. And she displayed it at IPBI DPC Bdg monthly gathering a few days ago, and we share it with you today. The thing is… this is the current trend which means it is one of the wedding hand bouquet ideas, up till 2014. In general, the trend will be soft in color and made very neatly. The flowers placed close to one another that the bouquet becomes sturdy, not easily fall off even when shaken or jounce.

To make the bouquet looks full and tight, lots flowers will be needed (which means more money spent). Some flowers are imported, too. (more money again). And to make the base of this bouquet, the caspea must be cut in precisely the same size… in lots amount … then make a bit shorter and shorter. That will take more time and effort (also more money). That’s why we catagorise it as an expensive hand bouquet.

See? To achieve the look, the orchid must be cut, attached to a wire, then covered with floral tape and last put more wire as an accent (this means more work and money). Also notice the colour combination. How she chose the color is amazing, there’s the color accent but not too bold, so it looks real elegant. For this wedding hand bouquet, you will need orchid,  roses, hydrangea, viburnum and caspea.

Here’s a few more pics from top and behind of the orchid wedding bouquet, …. even the stems were covered with leaves then glued together (more work again…), so it’s definitely very neat. A more close-up look reveals how the flowers were attached really close each other so that the oasis not seen even in close range view.
So what do you think? Lovely has a price huh? Hahaha… For you who’s looking for an orchid wedding bouquet, we hope this post will inspire you and keep updating for our next wedding ideas!

Two thumbs up for Ling Ling as the floral designer!!!!

Flower Today: Bird of Paradise

Bird of Paradise is one of the exotic bird from Irian Jaya (Papua), Indonesia. But what we mention  here now is not a bird but  Bird of Paradise Flower. This flower is very unique and colourful. The colour looks contrast with its leaves. The flower has some petals from which an orange long shaped flower arises.  The petals have fuschia or purple colour around the top edges. Overall this flower looks like an exotic small bird.

This ornamental plant is frequently to be used to attract attention on simple flower arrangements which using lots of leaves so that it will show its beauty. Really, doesn't It look like a real tiny bird emerging out of green leaves? What a beautiful plant it is!
