On one sunny Saturday, I entered one place that I haven't seen in quite some time now... Saint Angela school in Jalan Merdeka, right in front of Bandung's city hall. Yep, this is my alma mater...
As a guest, I enter through the front door now, not like before, since students enter through the left side door. Entering the foyer, you can really feel the old school, nothing change here, still same high ceiling, dutch 'ubin' tile with elaborate motifs, heavy teak door and architraffe (which will cost a fortune nowadays) and stained glass windows. Passing the rooms on the sides which serve as offices ( for those of you who don't know, this school are run by The Ursulin sisters) I noticed that the huge crucifix hanging on the wall had additional glass and lamp background, plus now there's wrought iron gates on the left that blocked people from entering the school sides. Darn!!
Turning right from the foyer,I passed several rooms which used to be the library in the old days, but had changed now. Looking around, this front section of the school is pretty much still conserved, everything so colonial and big . Unlike the back area of the school, which has been modernised and had become multi story buildings. I still remember the shock I had when discovering the old dutch toilet cubicles which was huge (around 1,2 x 1,2 meters) now reduced to a mini mall like cubicle! Hahaha.
Turning left, you can see a small garden. Various plants planted here, and we used to put the chilli padi plant here too during horticulture class....
